"For your own health and the health of the planet" - FIBO Ambassador Petra Orzech

Bar ohne Namen

Nutritionist, yoga teacher, author, podcaster and founder of the MENO DETOX cure and now also FIBO Ambassador: Petra Orzech. How yoga contributes to a healthy lifestyle and why the daisy is an underrated food, Petra reveals to us in the FIBO interview.

FIBO: How do you keep fit & healthy in everyday life?

Petra: As a trained nutritionist, nutrition is super important to me in my everyday life and I do it with great joy and enthusiasm. I love cooking, trying things out and putting my knowledge into action. I am also a yoga teacher, so yoga is something I practice every day. Even if it's sometimes just a few minutes or even seconds, a breathing or concentration exercise. The third thing I find great is the curiosity, the enthusiasm for all these things. These accompany me every day, this joy, this curiosity about things, and I think they contribute a lot to health.

FIBO: What are your 5 underrated foods?

Petra: Five foods that we eat every day and probably underestimate for that reason are the apple, great for the heart and liver; black pepper for that extra energy kick; parsley, which keeps blood sugar levels stable; the onion, especially the red one is good for the heart; and the last one, maybe not quite as daily but as an extra tip: the daisy - great for detoxing.

FIBO: How does yoga contribute to a healthy lifestyle?

PetraHow does yoga contribute to a healthy lifestyle?

The great thing about yoga is that it can support all our systems in the body. There are four in total: 1. the endocrine system, which produces and regulates hormones.

2. the digestive system

3. the nervous system

4. the immune system.

Yoga exercises can help these systems, if they are out of balance, to get back into balance. This is incredibly beneficial.

FIBO: What has been your biggest milestone so far?

Petra: For me, the decision to study nutrition at university was a big milestone. I am now 56 and nutrition continues to inspire me with all its facets. Why? When I have a plate of food in front of me, on the one hand I have pleasure in front of me, because eating is incredibly fun. Then, with my choice of what I have on my plate, I decide about my health today and also for tomorrow. Not only for my health, but also for the health of the planet. The keyword is sustainability. And I think it's great what I can do through my food choices.
